Last year we held an abseilling fundraiser and a big thank you to all who took part and or donated. The fundraiser has helped us to subsidise this year's weekend and help some more with KS gain confidence, make new friends and enjoy themselves.

The Klinefelter's Syndrome Association have held Activity Weekends at the Ron Beddoes outdoor centre at Dukes Barn for many years because it provides, through its qualified staff, a safe, adventurous environment in which people of all ages and abilities can experience exciting activities, learn new skills, develop an awareness of the needs of others and gain a wider appreciation of the natural environment.

Activities include: Hill walking, Stream walking, Rock hopping and scrambling, Abseiling, Rock climbing, Caving, Canoeing

However, you are under no obligation to take part in any activities that you may feel uncomfortable with! There is also an orchard and a sensory garden for those less active. Indoor facilities include a games room with pool table, table tennis, table football and TV/DVD if required. Dukes Barn is situated in the beautiful village of Beeley, on the edge of the Chatsworth Estate and is in an ideal location for short riverside walks.

The concept of Dukes Barn is that it is an 'outdoor classroom' where participants can not only learn new skills, but learn about themselves and have fun in the process! To quote their website:

"Above all, we help people identify and meet their own personal challenges. Enabling people to overcome their difficulties and generate self-confidence is our major goal. We are always careful to ensure that the challenge is big enough to conquer, but not unrealistic. We provide an environment where people can develop at their own appropriate pace"
