Kabul to Colchester · 13 October 2019

We exist solely to support The Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces, looking after veterans, serving soldiers and families within our Airborne community. We're there for our nation’s paratroopers through the good and the bad, from the moment they join our family to the sounding of the last post.

Story

The idea came when we were discussing our deployment in the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess bar. We wanted to conduct a charity event and we wanted to make it big. 6 months is a long time and we thought: why not do something every single day for 6 months?

Kabul to Colchester walking route on google maps is 4,104 miles and it made sense that we would do that, at a cost of 23 miles a day on average for 180 days per individual. A minimum of 4 miles must be running and the remainder can be achieved on exercise bike or rowing machine. It’s going to be tough to maintain and when we miss a day we’ll have to catch it back up. It’s a small price to pay to help those who have served us faithfully and selflessly whilst risking their lives.

For families and friends we are going to post our weekly totals and mark our progress on a map. It’ll be a visual way of tracking us back home as the tour goes on. We’ll also include photos and the occasional video diary to help tell our story.

Please be generous and support us in raising funds for a really important cause. Veterans need help and Support Our PARAs gets the money and support directly to those in need.
