Story

Hello,

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about our reasons for competing in the Wolf Run,

On the 21st of November my wife Elizabeth gave birth to our amazing son Harry, unfortunately Harry was due to be born on the 13th of January. Being born 2 months early was incredibly traumatic for both Elizabeth and Harry. We live in Stamford Lincolnshire so had always expected for our son to be born in our local hospital Peterborough. Unfortunately they had no space for Elizabeth and our imminent arrival so Elizabeth was transferred 50 miles to Kings Lynn.

After Harry was born he spent 3 weeks in Kings Lynn S.C.B.I.U, with out there amazing care Harry would not be were he is today (which l am pleased to say is a remarkable happy and content baby)

Harry had to be transferred to Peterborough S.C.I.B.U after 3 weeks to enable him to be closer to Elizabeth and l, and prepare him for coming home. This involved the use of a transport incubator.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kings Lynn do not have a modern transport incubator (not reliable) so we had to wait a week until one became available during which time you hope that the space in Peterborough S.CI.B.U does not get taken. We were lucky and they still had space so Harry was transferred and much closer to home.

I decided if ever there was a cause that could get me active and raise money for charity this was the one, fortunately l am surrounded by some great crew and friends who decided they would like to help also, and here we arrived at the Wolf Run a 10km cross country run through various manmade and natural obstacles. We run on the 7 of April so very soon.

Now the fun part, those that know me will know l am not a particularly active sporty person, more of an arm chair enthusiast so l have had to try and get in shape, l am not going to say l am there but l am determined to complete this 10km run, no doubt being propped up by the other members of our team.

I appreciate times are hard for everybody but if you are able to donate something it would be greatly appreciated by Elizabeth, Harry, myself and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kings Lynn Special Care Baby Unit. All money raised will go towards purchasing a new transport incubator which will hopefully ensure future families don’t have to wait to get there new born babies closer to home.

Thank you very much,

Mike Rouse

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
