Muslim Charity is a leading international relief and development NGO that aims to alleviate the suffering of the world's poorest people. As well as responding to disasters and emergencies, it successfully carries out short and long-term development projects - regardless of race, religion or gender.

Story

The Cholistan desert is one of the toughest, drought-prone and hottest regions across Pakistan, due to its landscape and geographical location. Schools and educational facilities are very scarce and extremely under-resourced at best. Muslim Charity are taking this initiative to build a school for these children who are studying out in the open under the hot sun.

Recently the Cholistan Development Authority (CDA) and Punjab Education Foundation (PEFtook an initiative to facilitate education for the local community and their children, and hired teachers on government pay so they can ensure their education, but the major issue is with the lack of adequate learning spaces. Students are forced to study either under trees or in the open under the desert sun, due to non-availability of any structures.

Muslim Charity have selected two locations in the Cholistan desert to build two schools to provide better learning spaces along with basic furniture, learning and activities material, stationery, uniforms. There is no grid electricity available in the desert, so each school will be powered by solar panels.  We are hopeful that this project will not only help educate the current generation of children, but will serve many generations to come and help secure the future of the community.
