On Sunday 11th October I will be running The Great Eastern Marathon in memory of Kim Hayes, my best friend Ben's father who passed away earlier this year after a long fight with cancer. I will be hoping to raise funds for the Hunts Community Cancer Network (HCCN) who, throughout his illness, gave unwavering support for Kim and his family

Running this half marathon is probably the best way I can think of for remembering Kim, who himself was an unbelievable athlete and inspirational sportsman. Of his many remarkable endurance achievements, which include cycling the length and breadth of the UK, running four full marathons, one half marathon and training to swim the English Channel, the thing that stands out nevertheless for me was to hear how he battled unrelentingly to the very end against an illness such as cancer. 

Surely this act of bravery and iron-will alone encapsulates everything about Kim and is what I will be celebrating on Sunday.

I've never ran a half marathon before. With your support, I'd like to set a challenge for myself to run it under 1hr 40min. Its gonna be tough. But then thats the type of guy Kim was! So please, donate generously to HCCN and to this amazing event and hopefully I won't disappoint!
