Well, we made it!! Swollen ankles and blistered feet aside, we had a wonderful time - even playing midwife to a cow in labour at one point. Do make our efforts worthwhile and give what you can.
Kara, Sue and Kev have hiked 96 miles from Milngavie, just outside Glasgow, up the wet and windy west coast of Scotland, all the way to Fort William. We've done it to raise much needed funding for the Red Balloon Learner Centre - Reading.
Red Balloon Learner Centres work with bullied children who have been so terrified by the experience that they have excluded themselves from school. Red Balloon provides a safe, home-like environment, one-to-one tuition and counselling, with the aim of recovering those bullied children and getting them back into mainstream education or employment. And they have a fantastic success rate - 95% of the children who stay longer than six weeks return to mainstream school, go on to college, further education or into employment.
Kara has been working with Red Balloon Learner Centres for a year now, helping them to set up a learner centre in Reading. We've bought a house on the King's Road, but more money is needed to convert this wonderful Georgian property into a learner centre. Please give generously to this deserving cause.
