Karam Kaur will be going to Punjab In November with Khalsa Aid to help provide financial and medical support to those families suffering and living in poverty in Punjab!
How did it all start??
As many of you all know, I had the opportunity to visit Haiti in December 2010 with Khalsa Aid, a humanitarian relief agency, who has been actively involved in providing assistance to humanitarian crises since 1999. Previous relief projects include Albania, Turkey, Somalia, Indonesia, Indonesia, Punjab and Haiti to name just a few!
We were working with 7 orphanages to ensure clean water facilities and helped install vital water pumps to help prevent the spread of cholera by ensuring clean water was being distributed. The money raised was also used to deliver food, blankets and tents to several much needed orphanages in the Leogane area. The work which this charity carries out is truly inspirational and amazing and I saw how each penny raised with YOUR Generosity makes such a big difference to those living in dire poverty.
Focus Punjab project
Earlier this year in June we flow to Punjab for 12 days to visit Shaheed Families, Singh’s in Jail Families and Dharmi Faujis. These families which have been DIRECTLY AFFECTED BY 1984 and I saw how ALL money raised helped these forgotten heroes of the Khalsa Panth.. Was shocking to see the level of poverty in Punjab in the 21 century!
Since the June 2011 visit Khalsa Aid are proud to now be supporting over 70 families and re-build works have already started for families literally living in mud “houses” with more re-builds to start. Also through the generosity of sangat, Khalsa Aid was able to help with the wedding of a dharmi fauji daughter…A very special moment J
What now???
The winter months are fast approaching and all money raised will help provide monetary support to these forgotten families and help their children’s education support.
Please help Khalsa Aid continue efforts in Punjab of supporting these poor families and children.... Be proud to sponsor Punjab
Khalsa Aid can only carry out its relief work in much needed places and only possible due to the generosity of the sangat
