How do you choose which Charity/Trust to fundraise for when there are so many worthy causes that need funding? The reason I have chosen The Sick Children's Trust is because a friend's daughter was in intensive care at a hospital some distance away from their home and parent beds were not provided in the unit. The Sick Children's Trust provided them with a room, direct telephone to their daughter's nurses, washing, cooking facilities, etc., a 'Home from Home' , this would not have been possible without the Trust.
Unfortunately, there are many children who have illnesses that require them to be in hospital, away from their home for many months. Without the Trust providing accommodation and support it would be very difficult for parents to be near their child and would add a large amount of stress and anxiety to an already worrying and emotional time.
The Sick Children's Trust rely entirely on voluntary income and any amount of donation, large or small, would be very much appreciated to allow Trust to continue providing their much needed support.
The Sick Children's Trust
The Trust was set up in 1982 by two paediatric specialists who believed that having parents on hand during hospital treatment benefited a child's recovery.
Every day, children are diagnosed with serious and life-threatening illnesses or have terrible accidents that leave them fighting for life. They often have to be transferred to specialist hospitals far from home to receive critical medical treatment. Life for their whole family is suddenly thrown into complete turmoil.
The Trust works with the hospitals, supporting them in their role and providing free 'Home from Home' accommodation, as well as emotional and practical support, to families with sick children in hospital in the UK. They help to alleviate some of the emotional and financial strains at a very stressful time, providing an essential service free of charge for up to 116 families every night, 365 days a year.
