WE DID IT !!!
3 days of sheer blood, sweat and tears - but we did it. We met many other walkers on our journey along the wall and they all said that we were mad attempting to complete the whole 84 miles in just 3 days. It quickly became clear that they could be right!
But through sheer determination, teamwork and alot of laughter we completed it. Each night in the camp you could hear the moans and groans of everyones pain as we settled into our sleeping bags. Alcohol in the evenings was used purely as a pain killer and for medicinal purposes only!!
The creeking of our limbs in the morning echoed around the camp as we slowly got moving for another day of hiking.
As work collegues, there were sights, sounds and smells experienced that collegues should never know about each other, but the pact was made - 'what happens on the wall, stays on the wall'!
The finish was an emotional moment which ended in a full on water fight!...... As difficult as this challenge was the generosity and support from families, friends & collegues encouraged us to continue every painful step and for this we thank you very much. A quick celebrational drink before the long bus journey home enabled us to compare blisters, sores and aches. What a team we turned out to be, we achieved what felt at times to be the impossible - And for this, I thank my team mates. Our aches & pains may fade but our memories on that ridiculously long wall will last forever.
