Story

Hello

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Over the years i have always wanted to raise money for Charity but organised events have always involved rather tedious trips up and down some very large mountains or marathons and as such it has always been quite an achievement to get me motivated. However, i have finally found a task which i hopefully should be able to do and for all of you who know how much i love my food, it is a sacrifice as well. Deutsche Bank is organising a sponsored a " Pound(£) for a Pound(lb)" Event and i thought it was a weight loss event i should join post Christmas. With public weigh-ins, peer pressure and public embarrassment a possibility,  i will have no choice to avoid all those yummy but "naughty" for the waistline foods it will hopefully be one new year resolution I get to successfully achieve this year and help raise money for a good cause whilst doing so!  The first weigh in will take place on the 4th of Jan and i will have until the 28th of Feb to lose as much weight as possible. You can either donate lb for £ or set a maximum or minimum if you prefer.

My chosen charity is "Myeloma UK" which specifically targets it's donation money and research towards providing life saving donors for patients in need of bone marrow transplants and those suffering with Myeloma related disorders. Having lost my mum to Multiple Myeloma (Bone Marrow Cancer), i hope that my small effort post Christmas will help towards winning the battle against cancer. Great developments have been made in the past few years in extending the lives of bone marrow cancer patients, but we need to get to a point where people are not losing the battle at all! No cancer is good, but the fight for bone marrow cancer in particular is often long and extremely painful and lost. The drugs are not as advanced as those available for other types of cancer and the support lines are limited.

So please dig deep and donate now, no one else should have to suffer. Any contribution (even a penny) will help!

Thanks,

Karen
