I am excited (and nervous!) to take part in my first half marathon this month.  Autism is a cause very close to my heart; we have several family members who are deeply affected by this condition.  Up to one in a hundred children are now being diagnosed with autism, but surprisingly it is little understood and severely underfunded.  Autism Speaks (www.autismspeaks.org.uk) is the only UK charity raising funds for biomedical research into the causes and basis for autism, and I would sincerely appreciate if you can join me in supporting their work.  Furthermore this is a big challenge for me and I need all of the inspiration I can get!
