Story

Decision to take part in this event to support a fellow #TeamFabulous Fatburner was without hesitation, as the hospice do amazing work, and support for family, friends and their patients., with compassion and respect. Yes I am 48, don’t have the best of fitness but it has dramatically improved over the past year and this is a goal I will work towards in the coming months... I ask for your support and your belief in me that I can do this,,, with love and huge thanks for your donation xxxxx

This is my team members story on how she came to organise such an amazing challenge - On the 19th March last year, Scott, at the young age of 46, lost his short battle with cancer. Scott was a cracking guy, a true gent and also the husband of our friend Justine.

Justine has dealt with the last year with such resilience and is just simply the most caring and strongest person along with her two wonderful, wonderful kids, Andrew and Lucy.Scott fought heroically and he fought with courage and dignity spending his final days being cared for by the truly exceptional staff at St. Andrews Hospice in Airdrie. The care and attention Scott received was just remarkable. To honour Scott's memory, this year 28 members of #Team Fabulous are joining forces with #TeamDoc to take on the Ben Nevis challenge on the 24 August to raise essential funds for the Hospice.

With Scott always in our thoughts, this climb and all of the #TeamFabulous fundraising events will be in memory of all of the people who have spent their final days at the Hospice, along with their families and to contribute to the daily running and future use of the Hospice's services.

Thank you for your support - Love always #TeamDoc ~ #TeamFabulous xxx

St. Andrew’s Hospice endeavours to provide a high standard of specialist palliative care to the people of Lanarkshire, encompassing human dignity and compassion. As Lanarkshire's only specialist palliative care hospice, we provide multidisciplinary support for our patients, their families and carers. Whilst we receive funding from NHS Lanarkshire and other sources, this only partially covers our running costs. Continued provision of these services is only made possible by the generosity and assistance of the people of Lanarkshire.
