Dave and I are walking the Beachy Head Marathon, one of the biggest off-road marathons in the UK. It is popular for its scenic and very challenging route through the countryside and chalk cliffs of the South Downs, finishing over the 'Seven Sisters'. It has a total ascent of 3500ft, plus gates, stiles, bridges, cattle grids and several flights of steps! We have to finish within 9 hours or the marshalls will have all gone home (plus it will be dark!). Don't forget to look through the photos on this page!
HELP (Health, Education and Literacy Programme) International is dedicated to providing health care and education for children throughout the world who are orphaned, destitute or disabled. They are currently involved in the following projects. See www.helpinternational.co.uk for more information.
India - There is no social security. Children who are born poor stay poor, unable to afford education and the chance to find better work. Orphans depend on the charity of other family members, or become street children, literally fighting for survival. It costs about £12 a year to provide education, a uniform and one square meal a day for just one child.
Zimbabwe – We are building an orphanage where children can be cared for by resident house parents, and receive training and education.
Zambia – We are providing food and education for orphaned street children who have nowhere to go.
My friend Naomi who is with me on the photos from the Moonwalk, is a Trustee and Director of the charity.
