Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Update - I completed the Neolithic CaniX Half Marathon with Prince & Duke from Charlton Clumps to Stonehenge on 2nd May 2010 in a time of 1:58:34.
I have chosen to run this event in aid of Cancer Research, because Cancer has affected several members/trainers of the dog agility club (Tuffley Agility Club) that I belong to. In particular one trainer has been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer.
CaniX for those that don’t know is cross country running with dogs. I run with 2 dogs both Belgian Shepherds and our usual race distance is 5km. Prince is a Groenendael – Registered name Ebontide Othiz AW(S), JW Duke is a Tervueren – Registered name - Norlyght Seventh DukeCaniX is a great way to exercise & get fit. I started running with my dogs in 2007 (before that I had never done any running) in order to get fitter for agility & lost over 4 stone that year. Through running I lost the weight to get down to a healthy BMI, kept the weight off and believe I am now fit enough to tackle a half marathon.
The 13mile route follows the Ridgeway from the start point at Charlton Clumps to Wexland before turning westward to cross part of the Salisbury Plain training area to the Bustard Inn and on to Stonehenge. The first half of the route is an undulating track, the second half is flat with some grassy footpaths. It can be muddy when wet; dusty and rutted when dry.
