Update: On 22nd July I arrived at John O'Groats on a sunny day after just over 3 months of walking. The wonderful people i have met along the way and gorgeous countryside i have seen kept me going through the tough days. I have also been amazed and touched by peoples generosity which made the completion of this challenge even more rewarding. Thanks again from myself and the Whitechapel Centre Liverpool.
Hi
My name is Karen and from April 2010 I am aiming to walk a 1206 mile route from Lands End to John O'Groats whilst raising money (I hope!) for The Whitechapel Centre, a charity working with homeless people in Liverpool.
The Whitechapel Centre is a special organisation - I should know, I worked there for 8 years, it puts all its effort and resources into helping any person who finds themselves homeless or in housing need in Liverpool. We have a daycentre providing hot meals, showers and laundry facilities with advice and support, street outreach, meaningful activities and variety of floating support projects that help people with specific needs obtain and sustain their own accommodation. We constantly look for new ways to help people move on with their lives and sometimes requires extra funds to be more creative.
So please help motivate me through all the blisters, knee ache and getting lost by donating whatever you can.
You can also follow my progress by following me on twitter - www.twitter.com/karenendtoend.
Thanks
Karen
Special thanks to the following:
David Carter - CEO The Whitechapel Centre - for being so understanding of my crazy goals.
Mum (my PA) and Dad (back up support) for sending maps, books etc as required and generally helping with the organisation side of things.
Peter Hulse - Printing.com for deducting some charges for my charity business cards.
Mr and Mrs Lake for their very generous donation which was sent direct to The Whitechapel Centre
