How better to start a year then to make the commitment to get in shape and be able to compete running. (Well this is my number one resolution EVERY year really to be honest)

An even better start would be to make the commitment to get in a really really good shape...and compete running.

Well, I shall try reverse this logic. Lets commit to a race that I may not have to win but in order to JUST SURVIVE I really have to get in quite some state of fitness that most certainly would suffice.

The race I am planning to take part in and raise funds for a great charity will inevitable force me to get fit enough to be able to survive running 250 km, with a 10kg backpack at 38-40 Celsius at day and -1 C at night through the Sahara. Yupp, certainly a great motivator to lay off those Jaffa Cakes and everything else weighing me down and thinking, how I can get there in 10 months (well actually we are already 2 months into my training and my knees are killing me... not great - but, hey, I already have a 2-pack with shall become a 6er soon-ish)

Since I prepaid this quite costly event, I am committed not just with my will, but also with the few savings that I never had in the first place. Yeyy, excited.

So, now - You may be wondering why I choose this Charity... I am not in a place to judge if the most important cause is saving trees, children, elderly, poor or the water. (They all are crucial, of course, but how to choose ONE). I CAN however decide on how the money is spent in the most efficient way, namely: I can choose someone that does utilize the money without wasting admin costs etc, which MOST CHARITIES DO btw.... there are few that have an efficiency above 60% (meaning only 60p per pound are utilized for the cause), and very few ever go beyond 95%! Thus finding one that is 100% is quite rare, and is thus MY WINNER. Simple choice really.
