A HUGE thank you to all that supported this effort for the 2010 drive to raise £500.00 for the NSPCC. I am thrilled that we were able to pass the target! It was a fabulous day out there in the race and looking forward to racing it again for 2011. Well done and thank you to everyone for your encouragement, support and donations.

A personal message from Karl. Please read.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last year I had a phenomenal experience both in racing and raising funds for the NSPCC and the 2009 Mazda London Triathlon. I came in as a last minute entry and hit 61% of my £500.00 target within only 2 weeks. Completing the 2010 Powerbar Half Ironman in Rapperswiel- Jona Switzerland in June I feel very positive for the London Olympic distance. I aim to achieve a PB both in donations for the NSPCC and my finishing time.
The NSPCC
is special to me because it provides the opportunity to catch young people at that critical point
where the impact of their help is most needed. Fear and abuse can be
understood and councelled and over time championed to provide children
with hope and belief in their potential. Investing in children in this manner
is something I deeply respect.
Below
is more information on the charity and using Just GIving. International
sponsorship/ donations are also accepted so if you are reading this
overseas there is no escaping my request to help donate :). Even a
dollar.
The charity's tagline reads on the back of my
racing singlet:
"There's a child depending on me" so
let's make it happen.
Thank you in advance.
Karl
About NSPCC
Vision:
"A society where all children are loved, valued and able to fulfill
their potential. The Society is the UK's leading charity specialising
in child protection and the prevention of cruelty to children.
Everything we do is designed to help us aachieve this aim".
Donating
***£4
could
answer a child's call to Childline. This service is vital for children
who desperately need to speak out but have nowhere else to turn.
***£20
could buy dolls used in play therapy. Play therapy can help a child
express their emotions and act out their experiences of abuse, which
they may find difficult talking about due to the pain it causes.
***£85 could pay for the cost of counselling two children who would otherwise feel like no-one is there to help them. This service enables children to express their emotions and talk about their experiences.
***£250 could pay for two days of individual therapeutic sessions between a child and a social worker at one of our domestic violence centres. Working with a young person in this way can help them overcome the traumatic impact of their experience of domestic violence.
