Asics British 10K London Run 2011 · 10 July 2011 ·

Acid violence is a particularly vicious form of premeditated violence, where acid is thrown usually at the face to disfigure, maim and blind, but not to kill. We provide medical expertise and training to 6 partner organisations, raise valuable funds to support survivors and help to change laws.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The 10K run is sure to be a real challenge, but there's no better cause to be running for! Acid Survivors Trust International is the only organisation working to end acid violence and empower survivors on the international level. Along with its in-country partners, ASTI helps mainly women and girls in the developing world who have been the victims of acid and burns violence, which rarely kills but always disfigures and causes great pain.

Even though I'm no runner normally, I'm working to get better day by day. Part of this is participating in the 10K- I'm not expecting to break any records, but it's a great motivator to get my trainers on and get out there. Knowing that I'm raising money for ASTI is a wonderful motivator too. Thank you very much for donating!
