Bumblebees are in decline because of a loss of their habitats. Our landscape is changing, over 97% of the UK's grasslands have been lost in the past 70 years. We work to put much needed flowers back into the countryside to benefit our bumblebees and other wildlife.

Story

Hello, on Sunday I'm running 10k to raise money for the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. 10k might not seem like a lot to you, but to me it's equivalent to a hundred marathons. I hate running and am spectacularly bad at it.The most I've ever run is 6k and this involed a 10 minute stop off to look at some tadpoles and ended at the chip shop. Running 10k will be horrible, but I'm determined to do it.

Sadly, in the last 70 years, the number of bumblebees in this country has declined dramatically - two species have become extinct and six are threatened with extinction.

The Bumblebee Conservation Trust does brilliant work to safeguard habitats, educate gardeners and farmers and help prevent further extinctions. A lot of great work has already been done, but more money is needed to fund more projects.

It's not just bumblebees that benefit from bumblebee habitats. Birds, butterflies, hoverflies – all manner of creatures – find food and shelter in such areas. And we benefit too, getting to eat all the food bumblebees pollinate.

So it would be wonderful if you could spare some cash - even just £1 - for this wonderful charity. The Trust, the bees and I, will be very grateful.
