We did it! It was a hell of a day that had it all - nerves, excitement, pain, crashes, tears, laughter, lots of emotion, amazing displays of courage, persistence, endurance and incredible support. We raised £2334 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research and pushed ourselves to our personal limits. I, along with Helen, Shez, Tina, Becky and Debs, am taking part in a mountainous 23km trail run in the Chablais region of the French Alps. It is going to be a huge challenge climbing from 800m in the village of Vacheresse to just under 1938m at the highest (currently still snow-capped) peak, running along ridges, around lakes and on narrow tracks on varying terrain. Training is already proving very uncomfortable and any thought of aiming for a particular race time has very quickly turned into a fervent hope of completing the course.

Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research is an innovative and visionary organisation committed to beating blood cancer. It has been in existence for 53 years and has already changed the world in many ways - in 1960, when it was founded, a child with leukaemia had almost no hope of survival. Today 9 out of 10 children survive the most common form of leukaemia thanks to LLR's continued investment in research into better treatments.

Unfortunately, there are many different types of leukaemia and lymphoma, many of which are very hard to treat. Around 30,000 people, from babies to grandparents, are diagnosed with blood cancer every year in the UK.

Leukaemia is personally affecting my family in NZ at the moment. Any advances in research, no matter where in the world, will bring us closer to beating this terrible disease. Your support can help save lives.
