Virgin London Marathon 2013 · 21 April 2013 ·
I started treatment for breast cancer almost exactly two years ago. I was 47 with two young daughters and was training for a half marathon. Cancer really can happen to anyone, anytime.
The first time I met a Macmillan nurse she was sitting next to the consultant as he told me I had cancer. She took me to a private room and made me a cup of tea and provided a badly needed shoulder to cry on. So when I won a place in this year's London Marathon and decided to run for charity there was no contest - it had to be Macmillan.
£918 is enough to fund a Macmillan nurse for one week. For my nurses J and S and all the team at Kingston Hospital, this one's for you.
