Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am raising money for Leukaemia Busters, a registered charity based at Southampton Hospital whose objective it is to develop new antibody-based magic bullet type treatments for children and adults with currently incurable forms of leukaemia. This is achieved firstly through a high quality research and development programme to produce and evaluate new antibody-based drugs and secondly through clinical trials in patients to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of such newly emerging drugs.
The charity was founded by the (doctor) parents of Simon Flavell, who died with an incurable form of childhood leukaemia in 1990. Their story can be found on the charity's website, www.leukaemiabusters.co.uk.
My son, Rowan, was diagnosed with leukaemia in June 2007. Not being a doctor, I can't set up anything like the Flavells have done but I can support them by throwing myself out of a plane and persuading friends and family to fund me to do so!
