Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.

Story

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for coming on here and sponsoring me. I have a massive target to hit, half of which I need to make by the end of the year,  so I appreciate every single penny that I get!

I’m raising money for Brain Tumour Research and on behalf of Team Charlie Cox, who are raising money for my friends son.  Charlie is 3 years old and undergoing treatment for a brain tumour, having first been diagnosed when he was only 8 months old. I’ve been so impressed by the fundraising carried out by Charlie's family and friends and have always wanted to run a marathon, so now I've got a reason to.

Brain tumour research receives less than 1% of national funding, despite accounting for most occurrences of cancer in the under 40's. Even benign brain tumours can be life-threatening and are likely to become cancerous over time. Brain Tumour Research are the only national charity in the UK funding continuous research into brain tumours, so please help me to help them raise the funding they so badly need!

I have done some running but nothing as big as a marathon. The thought of running 26 miles is definitely terrifying me a bit, as is the cold long runs over the next 5 months and turning into one of those bores that talk about nothing but running and blisters!! But I am so up for this and spurred on to raise as much money as possible for this charity and Charlie.

THANK YOU!!
