Story
Chris, my husband, and I have formed team “Diplodocus” planning to drive an ambulance to Mongolia, as part of a charity run called the “Mongol Rally”.

Several hundred vehicles depart from Goodwood on July 24th, with the aims of raising money for children’s’ charities in Mongolia and of taking useful vehicles to Ulaanbaatar. Most will be in small cars driven by. “gung ho” adventurers. .
We will choose our own routes. Ours is via Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan, including the ferry across the Caspian Sea from Baku. We are scheduling 42 days to Ulaanbaatar..
It will be hot, uncomfortable, tiring, frustrating and dangerous. However, we think (hope?) we are still young enough and fit enough to take on this challenge..
We are looking forward to.wide horizons, massive light, and awe inspiring mountains. Also to see if we can survive together after 30 years of marriage sleeping and eating in a small ambulance for 6 weeks! Neither of us has been to these countries before. The Silk Road is top of our “bucket list”. What better way to visit Samarkand and Tashkent than by road?.
But at the end of the day it is all about helping people in Mongolia. We will raise money for the Christina Noble Childrens Foundation and take a useful vehicle to Ulaanbaatar. So please give generously we're going to need a lot fo fuel to drive the 8,000 miles!
