Kate's Unicef page for the Clipper Round The World Yacht Race

Clipper 2017-18 Race · 27 August 2017 to 31 July 2018 ·
I am doing two legs of the Clipper Round The World Yacht Race, and the
yacht I am on is called Unicef.
The Clipper Race is one of the biggest challenges of the natural world
and an endurance test like no other. It’s a record breaking 40,000 nautical mile race around the world on a 70-foot ocean racing yacht.
Divided into eight legs and 14 to 16 individual races, crew can choose
to complete the full circumnavigation or select individual legs, and no
previous sailing experience is necessary however you have to complete a rigorous training course.
It is the only race in the world where the organisers supply a fleet of
twelve identical racing yachts, each with a fully qualified skipper to safely guide the crew.
For the first leg I am doing is Leg 2 from Uruguay (Punta del Este) to
South Africa (Cape Town) a distance of 3,560nM and starts on 4th
October. The second is Leg 8 from New
York to Derry-Londonderry then Liverpool a distance of 3,853nM which starts on 25th June 2018.
The Clipper Charity Partner is Unicef and I’m pleased to be chosen to
be one of the crew on the Unicef yacht.
Each member of the Unicef crew are trying to raise £1,000 each for
Unicef, and I would be very grateful if you are able to give a donation towards the amount I am trying to raise.
