Story
100 years ago, soldiers returned from World War I blinded by the effects of mustard gas or shrapnel. Kent Association for the Blind was set up to support these war wounded soldiers - helping them to rehabilitate back into society. Today our work is needed more so than ever .Only 4% of people who are registered sight impaired are completely blind, so we help people make the most of the sight they have. We can help with mobility training and advice .
Those you know me know how much my life was changed following my cycling accident. My sight was damaged and Kent Association for the Blind were there to help me and support me through my recovery. They taught me how to mobilise safety using a White cane. They provided opportunities for me to socialise with others with similar problems. This meant I learnt from others. They helped me apply for benefits and enabled me to get the support that Is available . There support was amazing.
So I want to thank them.
Last year I tandem cycled the length and breadth of Britain . I also ran the virtual London Marathon. This year I plan to run the real thing with Hannah Bosley guiding me.
Many of you sponsored me for those events and I thank you. If anyone wants to sponsor me for the London . I will do my best. This one is the scary one!!
