Thank you for visiting my fundraising page - yes I really have signed up to run the London MARATHON, yes in 2012 !! I have chosen to raise money for The Christie charity which raises money to fund projects which are outside the scope of the NHS. Examples of past projects include a new radiopharmacy, a new wig service and a state-of-the-art surgical robot to groundbreaking cancer research and communications skills training for nursing staff. As many of you know The Christie hospital has a special place in my heart as this is where my husband’s Mum was treated before she passed away. Andrew and I chose to ask people to donate to The Christie when we got married, and when our son Jake was born I committed then that I wanted to run the London Marathon in 2012 to raise further funds for the charity in memory of his Nana. In 2009 we also lost a close friend to a particularly drug resistant form of breast cancer after she had pushed the boundaries of her treatment, and this underlined for me how incredibly important it is to support centres like The Christie, as it is also a leader in clinical research. So please dig deep and donate now, in return I will keep you all up to date with the highs and low of training and how I get on at the main event.
