We inspire children and young people to engage positively in their communities

Story

UPDATE - I've done it!!!  I am so happy and so proud. On 17th May I became the 84th member of the Ten in Ten "family". Please help me reach my fundraising target for this extremely worthwhile cause. THANK YOU

In May 2012, not long before my 50th birthday, I ran my first ever marathon - it was the Brathay Windermere marathon. And I fell in love!

I fell in love with marathon running; I fell in love with Windermere and I fell in love with the wonderful work that the Brathay Trust does to help inspire troubled young people to achieve their maximum potential and to reintegrate them into their communities.

So you can imagine how "excited" I was when I was selected to run 10 Windermere marathons in 10 consecutive days to raise as much money as I possibly can to support the great work of Brathay Trust.

Now this is no trivial challenge and it has been achieved by fewer than 100 people ever....I am both very motivated and rather terrified about what lies ahead!

Last autumn I ran 4 marathons in 4 weeks as part of my training and I am currently running in excess of 50 miles per week to build my stamina and endurance. I ran over 2,000 miles in 2014!

My very generous employer, Engage Mutual, has sponsored my entry into the Ten in Ten and I thank them very much for that.

I also thank you for any donation you make, however big or small. It all goes to fund the amazing and worthwhile work of the Brathay Trust and that is what this is all about. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

We work with a wide range of young people, often with fewer opportunities in life, including those managing the transition from living in care to independence, at risk of exploitation in unhealthy relationships, needing confidence to find work or training, or facing other challenges in their lives.
