Story

Breaking news: Jill and Kate are hiking along Hadrian's Wall for Macmillan on Sunday August 30th!

As anyone who knows Jill and Kate will be aware, Jill is most likely to be found at the stables (covered in straw, pampering the horse that has now replaced her grown up and moved out children) while Kate will be wrapped up in a blanket with a bucket of tea, counting painting her toenails as exercise (it's practically yoga after all).

"How on earth did this pair end up signing up to do a 26 mile hike in the wild northern countryside?!" I hear you say...

Well, about 2 months ago, Kate (who works for npower), phoned Jill (her mum), to inform her that npower is organising a 26 mile walk along Hadrian's Wall in aid of Macmillan and that she (Kate) was intending to walk it. After Jill had duly congratulated her on being prepared to expend so much effort in such a good cause, Kate added in a voice of innocence, "...and I've signed you up too!"

Jill (caught unawares in the middle of mucking out) said yes, adding "But I'll be 60 by then and I don't know whether I can do it." Having been told firmly to get a grip, of course she could do it and it would be flat anyway, Kate and Jill signed up as a mother and daughter double act!

The pair will be hiking the 26 mile route in under 12.5 hours as part of the npower team.  This is a real challenge for anyone - never mind Jill (used to a horse doing the walking for her) and Kate (can barely walk across her living room without tripping over) so please show your support by digging deep and sponsoring the pair.
