Adidas Dublin Marathon 2010 · 25 October 2010 ·

We're dedicated to beating blood cancer. We fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day we beat blood cancer is now in sight and our researchers are determined to finish the job.

Story

As you all know….  because I don’t shut up about it…. I am running a marathon this year! (Well maybe more of a jog/fast walk than a run). Of course it is for my brilliant charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and I need to raise a LOT of money because:

1)       Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year and we want to raise as much money as poss

2)       I am the Fundraising Director so it would look pretty poor if I raise £5.50!

3)       This is a marathon!! And this is going to be painful, hard work and people keep telling me I will have to stop drinking….  For those who know me well this could be harder than the actual marathon… worth double the sponsorship I reckon!

Serious bit now in case you need a tad more convincing to donate.  In my job I am lucky to meet some amazing people, many of whom are affected by blood cancers. Sadly some support us in memory of a loved one. Others support us when they are still being treated  – and for those who know about cancer treatment, you’ll know how nasty that can be. And thankfully now we have more and more survivors.

All of them are an inspiration to me. They are so positive and absolutely determined to beat these cancers by supporting our research – and they want to do it to help other patients, to stop them going through what they have. So they are not even thinking about themselves, at a time when they could certainly be forgiven for being selfish.

It will be all these people and their families that will keep me running, and I hope they will get you donating!

 Thanks x

ps) If you don't sponsor me I will keep nagging!
