St. David's Hospice Care provides free community-based hospice care to people with cancer or any other life threatening illness living in Gwent and Mid/South Powys. Your donations help us to provide the services that give patients a real choice about where they spend their final days.

Story

I will be swimming the English Channel as part of a team on 1st July 2013.  As a swimmer in my younger days it’s always been an ambition of mine but I never though I would have the opportunity – St David’s has provided me with this as well as the chance to raise funds for a cause which is close to my heart.

Training began last summer with a mixture of indoor and outdoor swims.  I try to get to the pool regularly during the week and mix this with sea swimming as well as swimming in Bathurst (Lydney) and Chepstow Diving Centre on the weekends.  The sea swimming this winter has been the most daunting, mainly due to the temperature, however it is going fairly well and I can’t wait for the warmer weather so I can increase my outdoor training.

I have set an ambitious fundraising target and with your help I can hopefully achieve it.  The charity has given so much to my family in the past and it’s my turn to give something back.  Any support you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
