Story
We met Danny and his wonderful family in Great Ormond Street when Lennie was having treatment for cancer. Danny had a brain tumour, and following surgery to remove it he was also left with Posterior Fossa Syndrome (PFS) which means he was unable to communicate, move unaided, hold his head up, balance or walk. PFS was Danny’s biggest battle on a daily basis and this is why his family started The Danny Green Fund charity: to help other children who are suffering from the effects of PFS as the result of a brain tumour. They provide life changing therapies and equipment for young people, and support research to help battle the terrible impact of childhood cancer.
To mark Danny's 18th birthday this February, the Danny Green Fund have set the 18 challenge - any sport-related activity, 18 miles, km, lengths, hours, times, etc, from 6 Feb-6 March. I like cycling, swimming and will tolerate a gentle jog, but I've never done all three at the same time before. On 1st March I'm going to attempt to swim 1k (40 lengths), cycle 12k and run 5k - a home made 18k triathlon. I have a swimming costume, a bike and a tracksuit - how hard can it be? And I'm going to try and do it in 118 minutes. I don't know if that's possible but I'll try. I'd love it if you could sponsor me 18p, £1.80 or £18 for this amazing cause. I'd better go and start training...
