Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page
. I have now completed the London triathlon, in aid of WaterAid - thanks to everyone who sponsored so generously.
The tri journey began in January, with training involving: swimming with jellyfish in the Irish Sea (brrr!), speeding down the hills of the Cotswolds by bike (brill!), and running up dust down the red roads of Africa ... it ended in August with 9th place in a time of 51 minutes, then a television interview whilst I was stretching! It was a great day, with fantastic support from family and friends - thank you.
The charity itself, WaterAid, works through partners in Africa and Asia to make sure that the world's poorest people can gain sustainable access to safe water. One in six people in the world currently don't have this. With better access to safer water, children have more time to go to school and adults to work - rather than spending each day just fetching water.
A child dies every 15 seconds from water-related diseases. However, with a donation of £15 WaterAid could have supplied that child with a lifetime's supply of safe water, appropriate sanitation, and education in good hygiene practices
.
Donating through this JustGiving site has also meant that WaterAid receive the money faster, with an extra 28% added to donations from a UK taxpayer at no cost to the donor.
So thanks again - and note this page is open to any more donations until 6th October
. Best, Kath.
