My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have organised a charity Tag Rugby Match and fun day at Lock Lane Sports Centre in my home town, Castleford, West Yorkshire. It is on the 8th July 2012 from 10am onwards.

I am raising money in aid of Heart UK who are funding research into the inherited genetic condition FH (Familial Hypercholesterolaemia) which I have and have just found out my 11 year old son Lewis has too. The treatment for people in the UK with FH is still patchy at best with many going without proper diagnosis, treatment and care leading to many people having serious cardiac events, heart attacks, strokes and unfortunately some don't make it, both adults and children. Those of you that know me well know I have a big mouth and I am putting it to good use raising awareness of this illness and trying to instigate change! Heart UK have asked me to be a Patient Ambassador and I am going to London to the Patient Ambassador unveiling on the 28th. I would like nothing more than to be able to go and tell the doctors, geneticists, cardiac specialists and Heart Uks dedicated workers of the fabulous support our vause has in my home town. If you will play in the match, hold a stall, own a company or know someone who does and can offer a raffle prize or even if you can just turn up on the day, please let me know and pledge your support!
