Story
I am running the Great North Run and raising money for the Samaritans which I think is a very worthwhile cause.
Anyone can come across life struggles at any point in time for many different reasons. They may not have someone they can talk to or may feel happier talking things through with someone who is not going to judge them and they will not have to see again, a friendly stranger who is willing to give them their time so that someone else can carry on more productively. Many people who call are suicidal, but you do not have to be, they are there whatever the situation.
I myself am not ashamed to say have used the service at several points in my life when I could not pull myself out of doing something harmful, or have needed someone right then and there out of the trauma of chaos that I was going through to calm me down and get me back to stability or at least a point where I am not causing myself danger anymore. I am grateful to these kind strangers who give up their own time to help people like myself and others I know and millions that I do not know 24 hours a day 365 days of a year.I want to give back to these special people in any small way that I can so that they can continue to help other people.
So I have decided to follow in my families footsteps and complete the Great North Run setting myself two months to prepare and train going from struggling to be able to run 10k, to completing a half marathon something which I have not tried since being involved in a car accident last year. I also am aiming to raise as much money as possible for this great cause, and this is where you can help me by giving me as much as you can afford to reach my target of £600 and hopefully over succeed this target so that this great charity can carry on doing their good work.
