Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Three weeks ago Chloe somehow managed to convince me that running a 10k was a good idea. Initially, we signed up with the intention of getting fit and fulfilling personal goals. Having run 4k on our first days of training, we realised how unfit we actually were (sorry Chloe) and how hard this would really be. So, we've decided to suffer for charity.
Nike 'We own the night' 10k is a women's race and we therefore decided a female cancer charity would be the right fit. Having put some thoughts to other causes (which are all equally deserving) we decided we'd raise money for ovarian cancer.
Ovarian cancer is also called 'the silent killer'. This is because there are usually no symptoms until it is at an advanced stage. It spreads quickly to your internal organs, causing organ failure. Once it's spread like this, it's extremely difficult to cure.
Comparatively, this is a more aggressive cancer and has less awareness than others. That's why we thought it would be a great idea to raise awareness of ovarian cancer and raise money to help find better treatments.
Please dig deep. Chloe and I are going to struggle (okay, we know it's no marathon, but still!) so please support us and those affected by ovarian cancer.
Thanks so much! Lots of love, Chloe and Katherine
