At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 21st of May I am walking 18 miles from Leeds to Barnsley with colleagues at work. We are raising money for Alzheimer’s something I personally want to support and a charity the bank supports. There is no cure for Alzheimer's disease or any other type of dementia. Here are some figures to get you thinking 1 in 6 people over the age of 80 have dementia. There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025. This will soar to 2 million by 2051. 225,000 will develop dementia this year, that’s one every three minutes. Through work I can get each pound donated matched, so please give anything even if it’s a pound! Because unfortunately, at some point you will know someone with Alzheimer’s or dementia and it’s not easy to watch a loved one not be that person anymore.

So I’m off to start some training to get my old woman hips working in time! Please donate what you can!!
