Story
Thanks for looking at my page and thinking of donating to the 16 of us from Croydon Council raising funds for BHF, I really appreciate how many commitments everyone has, and every £ is very much appreciated by BHF.
Heart disease is the No 1 UK killer - The research that the British Heart Foundation is doing and the awareness raising of what makes for healthier hearts is really important for so many people and their families to help people live longer, healthier & more active lives. In Croydon's it's a real issue, Croydon has been named a Heart Town to try and raise awareness to get fit, eat better and have better chances of avoiding early heart disease.
Several of my close family have been directly impacted by heart disease; and the research at BHF is showing that what works to make hearts healthier also helps beat cancer, reduce diabetes & improve mental well being - so win:win
The Ben Nevis challenge is forcing me out of fitness retirement - and in turn I'm feeling better on several levels. I know I will love the Ben Nevis bit, hope we stay dry for the canoeing ( I hate swimming in cold water) and be keen not to fall of my bike downhill again (!)
Some of the ways BHF use the money donated http://www.bhf.org.uk/get-involved/where-your-money-goes.aspx
£2 – Helps 10 children get more physically active
£30 - Heartstart Schools training pack
£124 – Fund a resuscitation training manikin
£600 – Fund a Heart Helpline Nurse for a week
£100,000 – Fund a PhD student for 3 years
Follow me on twitter @kamlyon66 for weekly training progress and come to my fundraising afternoon tea & cakes in Peckham on Saturday 26th April 3pm onwards and find out how well the training is actually going (and check out how well the lawn repairs are coming on ) or just donate !!
many thanks for reading , and do think about donating, however little it will all help :)
