Story

Hello!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So, as you will know by now I have been awarded a graduate bursary go to India in March 2010 with Raleigh and I need to raise £1500 on top of this bursary, to help fund their work and the work I will be doing with them there! Please visit their website (www.raleighinternational.org) to see the full details or give me a ring and I can run it by you. Basically I will be in India for ten weeks doing environmental and community work as a Raleigh volunteer working with a Raleigh team in partnership with local communities, non-governmental organisations and the government in India.

Raleigh's charitable objectives are:

1. advancement of education and global citizenship

2. relief of those in need by reason of disadvantage

3. advancement of environmental protection and sustainable community development

Raleigh India launched just over a year ago and its expeditions and volunteer projects have grown beyond all expectation. Since February 2008, volunteers in India have built 145 eco-sanitation units, dug 15km of elephant proof trenches and walked 40,000km!

In order to try and raise this money I have decided to do a days walk from one pier to the next on the South Coast of England on a cold December day! Please sponsor my Pier to Pier walk and make my Raleigh work possible by giving online to my Raleigh account here.
