Story
Hello!
Thanks very much for visiting my fund raising page.
Last year, through the mud and torrential rain and with a small group of friends, I walked 26.2 miles in order to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Together we raised approx. £5k which was brilliant - so a huge thank you to everybody who supported that endeavour.
This year, in an attempt to get my lovely lovely friends to dig deep for a second time and support a cause so important to me, I have decided to up the ante - and aim to walk from London to Brighton in a day (and night) - 100 km (over 60 miles) in (ideally) less than 24 hours. This is considerably further than I have ever walked in one go before (over twice as far in fact) - but I'm mildly optimistic that it is achievable before my legs drop off (despite the fact that arctic winds and snow flurries are hindering my training)...
Macmillan Cancer Support provides practical, medical and financial support for those diagnosed with cancer and their families. It also pushes for better cancer care.
Anyone whose life has been effected by cancer (and with one-in-three getting cancer that is all too many of us) will have experienced firsthand the good work that Macmillan do. When Mum was unwell the at-home support and care provided by the Macmillan nurses was essential.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now. The walk is on 25/26 May 2013 - less than 60 days away - and is quite a frightening prospect - so any encouragement would be much appreciated!
