Story
My beautiful brave mum lost her fight to cancer last year on 11th May 2015. The three years previous to that were a roller coaster of emotions, challenges and very special moments together. Not a day goes by when I don't think of her, miss her, want to talk to her, be with her. But, I can't.
So, I have decided to raise as much money and awareness as I can for the incredibly loving, caring and extraordinary place that looked after mum in her last few days - St Michael's Hospice. The hospice continues to be an amazing support and help for both myself and Ella. It doesn't stop when the person you love leaves you. And, for that I am very grateful.
Over the past three years my life was 'put on hold'. My main priority was looking after mum, Ella and trying to keep my own business going. Not easy at times. My health, fitness and weight suffered.
I started 2016 thinking I needed a new challenge, something to help me regain my 'spark' and help me cope with my grief. I wanted to do something I've never done before so, I have signed up for a Duathlon in Hereford on 10th April. I've never ridden a road bike before, it's a challenge for me! Then, I got to thinking, why not do a few more events, raise more money for the hospice. Well, it kind of spiralled and I have signed up for the following:
1. St Michael's Big Walk (2km) 13th March With Ella
2. Sprint Duathlon (2.4m run, 17m bike, 2.2m run) 10th April With Jo Symonds
3. St Michael's Run (5km) 8th May with Kim Pope
4. Cardiff Gung Ho (5km) 21st May with Kim Pope
5. Paint Runner (5km) 18th June with Ella
6. Race for life (5km) 19th June
with ???
7. Pretty Muddy (5km) 9th July with Lissy
8. Wheelie Big Challenge (30 m) 17th July with Jo Symonds
I picked up my new and slightly scary road bike yesterday. Training starts on Monday. Please support me and this amazing cause.
Thank you. x
