My story
Hello & welcome to our just giving page!
My cousin Hannah & I have decided to run the London Marathon in April in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support! Back in 1995, my father Selwyn was diagnosed with lung cancer and the Macmillan nurses came to our home to help before he passed away in 1996. We saw firsthand the impact that cancer has on a family, and the valuable support Macmillan provides.
Since then, we’ve supported Macmillan in many ways – I’m an ambassador for Macmillan, supporting events where I can, my sister Laura climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in 2007 and then cycled 300 miles fromLondon to Paris with my cousin Naomi and Uncle Alan in 2011. Now it’s our turn to do our bit, so we’re taking on the epic challenge of the London Marathon!
Macmillan supports people affected by cancer - emotionally, practically, financially and medically. It’s a charity dear to both of our hearts, and Hannah will be running in memory of a dear friend of the family Jacqui Rohman, who passed away in 2010. She was an amazing and inspirational person, and is always in our thoughts.
The memories of our loved ones will spur us on every step of the way. Neither of us have run anything like this kind of distance before- Hannah hadn’t even run down the street before we started training!!
As a result, this will be by no means an easy feat! Your donations and words of encouragement will keep us focused on the finishing line, so thank you in advance for your support.
The big day is April 21 so if you're free and in London, please come out and join the Jenkins clan in cheering us on!
Thank you. Diolch o galon.
