Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In April 2009 my cousin Magnus died aged 31.  He was diagnosed with Epilesy as a teenager and in recent years only suffered from the occasional night seizure.  It was one of these night seizure's that unexpectedly took his life in April this year.

SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) is a charity that supports people bereaved through an epilepsy - related death.  It was founded as a self help group in 1993 and became a charity in 1995 due to the overwhelming lack of information and action to reduce epilepsy-related deaths.

Atleast 500 deaths each year are SUDEP, from amongst the500,000 people in the UK with Epilpesy.  This is when a person with epilepsy dies suddenly and a post mortem fails to establish any other cause of death.  SUDEP is most common in young adults, in people whose epilepsy is not well controlled and in people who have seizures at night.
