I’m taking part in The Big Walk 2018, a 26.2 marathon distance walking challenge on 22 June.
My dad, John Millington, died of cancer in November 2016. You're reading this, so you don't need me to tell you what an exceptional and wonderful person he was. He raised countless amounts of money for charity in his lifetime, particularly through Tickhill and District Lions. Dad always gave of himself and his talents to others, both as a teacher and a musician. We all miss him terribly: as husband, brother, dad, uncle, cousin and friend.
I work at the University of Sheffield and we are raising funds towards the University’s £2 million campaign for the Sheffield Scanner - a ground-breaking MRI-PET scanner facility, and the first of its kind in
Yorkshire. It will help research and treatment into many areas of medicine, including cancer, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, heart disease, diabetes and stroke.
I have no way of knowing if the scanner could have given dad more time or a better quality of life; but if it can do that for others then I want to help.
So please donate to this fantastic cause which will have an immense impact for everyone in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and beyond.
