Hello Lovely People!
I'm so lucky. I discovered running later in life and now I'm verging on the born-again.... or is that 'bore-again'? :-D I can set myself new targets and challenges, I can get a buzz when I reach and pass my own goals. When I'm training, I experience the seasons, the countryside, and the companionship of others with a shared passion. When I'm racing, I visit new places in the world and new places in my head... and I've only just started! In 2009 I will have run 4 x 10km races, a 5.5 miler, and with the GRIM challenge on 5th December, an 8-mile slog through mud, water and ice, off-road terrain, something that last year I could not have contemplated. Next year, 2010, I am going to attempt the Reading Half Marathon in March, the London Royal Parks Half Marathon in October, and with any luck the Las Vegas Half Marathon in December.
I'm doing it because I can. I can choose to do all these things because I have the gift of freedom.
Freedom. There are people around the world who are deprived of this basic human right because they have been wrongfully imprisoned, either through misadventure, through a failure of justice, through a lack of representation, or through sheer bad luck. Worse still, in some cases, these people are facing torture, deprivation and execution.
Today, Reprieve is working to help deliver justice for these people and save lives. Please read more about what this little-known charity-funded organisation is doing to help British Nationals expatriated and trapped in penal systems worldwide.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now. It will help me in each and every race I attempt, to keep going and do ever better.
Thank you my friends,
Kathy
