Hypothesis - as well as saving lives, your donation will help me run further than I've ever run before.

Help me put it to the test!

I've entered for the Great South Run on October 30th. That's 10 miles, further than I've ever run before, EVER! The training hasn't been going so well and time is running out FAST. To be honest I am pretty worried that I won't be ready for ten miles in spite of my training. So I'm coming to ask for your support to help me stick it out and get to the end!

And then it's the GRIM Challenge 2011 on December 4th. Why pick EASY things to do, eh? That's over 8 miles of freezing cold slog though mud, ice and puddles, off-road (see photo left from when I did this two years ago.)

I'm not a natural athlete, and find running quite tough especially at my age and with my build ;-). But I'm doing it because I can. I can choose to challenge myself and do all these things because I have the gift of freedom.

Freedom. There are people around the world who are deprived of this basic human right because they have been wrongfully imprisoned, either through misadventure, through a failure of justice, through a lack of representation, or through sheer bad luck. Worse still, in some cases, these people are facing torture, deprivation and execution. In many cases they are lucky if their situation is even known to the UK bodies who might help them.

Today, Reprieve is working to help deliver justice for these people and save lives. Please read more about what this little-known charity-funded organisation is doing to help expatriated Brits and others who are trapped in penal systems worldwide. And all that they are doing to ensure that British and European drugs manufacturers do not add to the torture and indignity by exporting drugs used in lethal injections.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now. It will help me in each and every race I attempt, to keep going and do ever better.

Thank you my friends,

Kathy
