Our life-changing research can fight diseases, tackle global challenges and change society. At Nottingham, students from all backgrounds can achieve extraordinary things, in and out of the classroom. But talent needs a catalyst. You can shape the future and help make the incredible happen, every day

Story

Hello! I am a second year undergraduate student at the University of Nottingham completing my Part 1 of the RIBA course.

Your donation would help to provide a bright, clean and safe environment for teaching basic skills, play and music to village children from under one year to seven years old. It will also provide employment for the local women who teach in the créche, cook meals, wipe noses and sing and play with the kids. It is one of the poorest, least developed parts of the country, with high levels of unemployment. 90% of funding goes directly to the material, construction and project logistic costs.

I am extremely grateful for such an amazing opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the children in Mokomotsie village in the province of Limpopo. Only looking at photos, it is evident that their quality of life is at a polar opposite to those living here in England. Can you imagine it: all children from the ages of 0-5 placed in the same small and cramped room, sitting/playing on the floor, with cardboard boxes used as toys? This needs to be changed.

During the Easter holidays from 25th of March - 25th of April two teams from the group will take it in turns to spend two weeks in the village constructing the building. By the end of the four weeks of the holiday, the building will be completed.

Any money that you can spare will really make a difference.

Thank you!
