My neice, Lottie (Charlotte), was born weighing just 3lb 7 at 31 weeks on 14th November 2009 at Birmingham's NHS Womens Hospital.  She was tiny and weak and needed 24hr care, this was given by the amazing staff at the Neonatal Unit.  The number of sick and premature babies received by the Neonatal Unit has dramatically increased over recent years, last year it cared for 920 babies. The increasing birth rate and other social factors will mean more newborn babies needing treatment. In addition to the babies born at Birmingham Women’s Hospital, babies come from hospitals across the West Midlands for its specialist care.  We need more capacity and space to meet this demand.

Six of my dear friends and I are leaving the pretty heels behind and putting on our walking boots to climb Snowdon to raise money for the Neonatal Unit to be able to help towards expanding the work and care they provide. PLEASE please help support us by sponsoring us to do our climb on the 1st May.  None of us have done anything like this before so it really will be hard work but for a fantastic cause. It is a fund raising project really close to my heart, Lottie is an amazing addition to the family and I can not thank the staff at the Neonatal Unit enough.
