Katie Kenward climbing Mount Kilimanjaro

First of all - thank you once again, so much, for your incredibly generous donations to my Kilimanjaro climb.
I have been very touched and somewhat overwhelmed by the contributions – at the moment the figure I’ve raised is £2,375. Moving Mountains are delighted with this and the amount that our whole team has raised - more than £46,000 towards the charity and expedition - so far.
The village where we worked was called Tagithi, north of Nairobi, and we were given the task of laying the foundations for a Secondary School. Whilst there we were also able to teach the children whose ages ranged from 7-17. This was an incredible experience that I hope to do again one day.
As to the climb - well it outweighed my expectations of hard work…. we spent 5 days climbing to 3,985m so that we were able to acclimatise before the big reach to the summit. The summit walk began at midnight; we than walked for 7 hours in steep conditions without light so that we reached the peak for the sunrise. Despite complaining at the time that we were walking in the dark, seeing the sunrise on top of Kilimanjaro was overwhelming and bought tears to the eyes of every member of our team. All photos will be on Facebook by mid-August so enjoy!
Again - thank you so much for your help,
Much love
