Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Me and my friend Colin will be attempting to walk from St Bees in Cumbria to Sunderland along the C2C cycle route, the distance is 140 miles by road, however we may walk up to 147 miles by using paths and cycleways.

The idea is to walk non-stop for 48 hours, this will mean walking at a constant 3 miles per hour. This sounds easy but after a few hours I'm sure it will be a struggle (not least as Colin will quicky become fed up with my company).

The route takes us past Hartside Top which is home to the highest cafe in the country, so there is plenty of up-hill walking to take into consideration (yippee).

We are putting together a small support team to allow us to get hot drinks through the night and cold drinks through the day.  We start on Saturday 25th September 2010.

I am raising money for The Children’s Air Ambulance, having worked as a paramedic for 22 years I have had the opportunity to see these amazing people at work at first hand, and want to raise as much money as I can for this very deserving cause.

Colin is raising money for his favourite charity, Children with Leukaemia.

About the charity

The Children’s Air Ambulance is an inter-hospital transfer service flying critically ill babies and children from one hospital to another for specialist care. With our ability to fly approximately four times faster than a land ambulance, we can minimise travel times and the risk for patients.
